Vein Treatment

Varicose and spider veins cause embarrassment and self-consciousness. Varicose veins are ugly, large, raised and rope like of purple color occuring in the legs and thighs area. While standing for long intervals, varicose veins cause pain and in severe cases can lead to ulcers. Spider veins are thin having purple or red color. These veins appear on legs, thighs and sometimes on women’s faces.

The severity of this problem can be evaluated from this fact that about every two to three women and men in ten suffer from these conditions. The vein treatments along with the treatment of deep vein thrombosis are available for the patients. The procedures which prove helpful and in use are as following:

Sclerotherapy is a vein treatment method. A solution is injected into the vein which irritates the vein resulting in its collapsing or disappearance. The blood is then taken over by the neighboring veins.

Laser treatment is used both for varicose and spider veins. It is a non-invasive method. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes. No down time is associated. In case of laser varicose treatment, repeated sessions are required till complete disappearance of veins from legs. The strong bursts of laser light are applied on the surface of the vein during the treatment.

Endovenous laser treatment is more effective than laser treatment involving a slight invasion. The vein is sealed by using ultrasound.

Ambulatory phlebectomy is another method of treatment in which the effected vein is removed completely. Tiny incisions are made in the neighboring area of the effected vein and with the help of surgical hooks, the effected vein is removed. The long term results of this treatment are very effective and positive.

Endoscopic vein treatment is effective for treating severe varicose veins. A tiny camera is inserted inside in this method. It takes about 2 hours.

Surgical ligation and stripping is an invasive and painful method. It takes about 3 days in resuming work. It involves typing off the vein and limiting blood supply, and the removal of the vein. The blood is taken over by the other veins by stripping process.

Closure technique is a new technique used in the treatment of varicose veins. Through the insertion of a tiny probe, bursts of radiofrequency energy are sent into the vein resulting in its collapsing.

The average cost of varicose vein treatment can be from about $500 to $2000. It depends on the type and extent of treatment.

The recovery time depends on the type of treatment. In most cases, it is quite short involving a day only.

Low risks are involved like formation of blood clots.

Consult a well-accredited and experienced doctor or surgeon for getting optimum results. For spider vein treatment, Texas, Houston and New York City are famous areas. For varicose vein treatment, Florida, Atlanta and Georgia are popular areas. Other well known areas for vein treatment are Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and North California.
